Identify keyword opportunities for SEO

One thing you want to pay attention to is the speed of your future website. You can easily check that on websites like Google PageSpeed Insights, or Pingdom. Producing quality video content is the first step, but without a solid marketing campaign in place, you’ll find it harder to get ranked on SERPs. As companies are recognizing the power of this form of media, using these techniques yourself will help you increase and maintain your SEO rankings in the long run. Lets go a little deeper as to the relevance of authority. As everybody knows, Search Engines are the moderators of the Internet. The search engine spider crawls the Internet finding billions of new pages, indexes them and then matches each web page to the relevant search query Stop words are the small words in your SEO phrase, such as up, with, is, a, etc. While it’s widely accepted as a best practice to remove these from your SEO phrase, sometimes removing them can actually hurt your SEO. For example, “What is a graco taco?” makes a lot more sense than “what graco taco.” So while many SEO plugins and search experts will advise you to remove stop words, sometimes it’s best to leave them in if they drastically impact the meaning of the phrase. Be your own judge. Google and the other search engines use image-recognition software as part of their search algorithm, so they know if those pictures have been used elsewhere before.

Identify keyword opportunities

With so many people using smartphones and tablet for their Internet search, it is imperative that you have a plan ready to compete for their business. f you are familiar with Google’s algorithm, you are aware that it is predicated based off of backlinks. This is simply a hyperlink on an external website that links back to your website. Most blogs and websites have an overall voice that they aim to maintain. While some may try to keep things simple and entertaining, some sites are more professional. If you are hoping to tap into a place with an established following, you should create your content to match the stuff that is already there. Which relevant search terms are most popular? Many companies err by assuming a particular term is popular. They put all of their efforts into being number one for a term few people care about—an enormous waste of SEO resources. A lot of people think of link reclamation as just 301’ing pages they have moved that still have a lot of great backlinks.

Broken links

While we all enjoy seeing the keywords rank well in the search engines, this doesn’t necessarily mean your SEO campaign is successful. Links from low-quality sites will do very little for your visibility. If the site practices Black Hat SEO (link-schemes, spamming, doorway pages) then can potentially harm your ranking. Develop SEO-enabled content from creation that is ready to deliver across all devices. Most SEO consults cover a local area. Though search engine rankings keep on changing from time to time (it’s normal), make sure that you have built your site in the right way and regularly posting quality content to drive a steady stream of traffic to your pages. It is not known how many users out there use the Google Toolbar, but the authors believe that they number in the millions. Google can track the entire web surfing behavior of these users.

How can you enhance the user experience?

According to Gaz Hall, a UK SEO Consultant : "Quality will win over quantity every time and your results will not be nearly as fruitful if you’re putting out mediocre content." Sometimes, all that you need are five to 10 relevant links, from authoritative sites, to begin seeing results from Google and other search engines. Your website must be easy for visitors to use if you want them to stick around at all. That doesn’t mean there can’t be compelling and maybe even controversial content, only that it must be easy to find and access for the visitor who wants to see it. To keep search engines from ignoring your site, only use original content. Copying and pasting product descriptions from your merchant’s site may save you time, but it will also lower your site’s page ranking. To assure your page rank remains high, take the time to write your own content. If you don’t have time to write, hire a copywriter to create original content for you. Use an online tool to help you come up with more keyword and topic ideas, based on some of your preliminary ideas.

Use Engaging Images & Videos

There is no single place to focus when trying to optimize a website for search engines, so it is important to make updates and upgrades to various parts of a website at regular intervals, not spending too much time or effort on any particular aspect of the website while other features get ignored or underserved. Contrary to popular belief, social media doesn't have a direct relationship with your search rankings. However, it can have an indirect bearing on the success of your SEO campaign. Spend some time to get to know the people who consistently share your content. Pull together a list of contacts with more than a thousand followers and a history of engagement in
your content. Knowing your social media influencers will help you expand your reach online and ultimately increase the rate at which your content gets found online. There are many different ways of creating new content. In addition to text, web content also includes images, videos, graphics, and audio files. Play around with different content styles in a variety of formats -- blog posts, site pages, webinars, videos, etc. Make the most of the diversity of options out there! Users appreciate variety. Search has penetrated the very fabric of global society. The way people work, play, shop, research, and interact has changed forever. Organizations of all kinds (businesses and charities), as well as individuals, need to have a presence on the Web—and they need the search engines to bring them traffic.

Do you have lots of External Media

You can’t master SEO in a day, but you can resolve to make small steps in each of the areas of SEO that will make your site better and your efforts more impactful. External optimization involves optimizing your content not only for search engines, but for tons of other referral sources, too. Republishing, repurposing, and distributing your content all fall within external optimization. The algorithm responsible for taking the world’s information and organizing it into (usually) 10 entries is, as you likely know, complicated. You should always Google keywords before committing to them.because it’ll help you to understand what—in Google’s eyes—is the best result for that particular keyword. If most of the results are vastly different to the content you’re trying to rank, it probably isn’t a great keyword to target. Besides voice search and Google’s focus on that, more is changing in and for Google. Specifically: a few new technologies and a profound new way of looking at the web.

Look for Broken Link Opportunities and Attack

Today, due to the way backlinks are evaluated based on different industry-related ranking factors, it is less quantity focused and more about the quality of sites from which the links are coming. SEO criteria frequently changes and becomes more difficult, so many website owners (and so-called SEO professionals) fall out of their practice claiming that SEO is dead. If a search engine recognizes cloaking it will penalize the website by permanently removing it from the search engine index. The website will no longer appear in search results. One of the first things you ’re going to need to do is to fill your site with great content and to use your keywords throughout. There’s a fine line to be walked here: you need to repeat the phrase a few times to ensure that you create that association but at the same time, you also need to make sure that you don’t overdo it and thereby appear to be spamming. The newest result isn’t always best – for less newsworthy topics, an in-depth and authoritative result that’s been around longer may outrank newer, thinner content.

Look for Broken Link Opportunities

Links help search engines connect the relevancy of a page with
specific keywords -- based on the keywords that are used in a
link’s anchor text. Getting third parties to link their websites to yours is a critical part of SEO. Without inbound links, there is little to no chance of ranking for competitive terms in search engines such as Google, whose algorithm relies heavily on link measuring and weighting criteria. More and more we are seeing the use of keyword clustering from sites that are making it beyond the scope of mediocre search results and traffic margins. Some SEO professionals have been predicting the demise of links for a several years. But there’s little evidence to support this trend so far. Information Architecture allows people and search engines to better understand the content structure on a site.

Find out what keywords are already bringing traffic to your website

User-generated content (UGC) sites and communities are two of my favourite places to find untapped keywords. Mobile devices have obviously exploded and Google has emphasized the optimizing websites for mobile users. By 2015 mobile search queries surpassed desktop ones – a seismic event in the evolution of search that can not be overstated in terms of significance. Optimizing for mobile devices is now nothing less than required. Its mobile-friendly ranking update came in two significant roll outs to date. A big part of effectively writing for Internet users and search engines alike is to understand the human user's psyche while also feeding the search engines the relevancy they need to consider ranking the page for a given topic. In general, though, focus on relevance above all else. It’s tempting to just shoot for the big, authoritative opportunities, but by doing so you run into a few issues. Search engine results are in a constant state of flux as rankings for individual pages and sites go up and down, outdated content fades and new pages are published. That means you'll probably notice a normal ebb and flow in your site rankings, especially if you're lower down in the results.

We've reached a tipping point

We asked an SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "With all that said…SEO is still all about content and links. Without amazing content, you’ll never get links. And without links, you won’t crack the first page." Keyword research is still useful when trying to decide on the most interesting topics for your audience. Keywords can still be part of your content, provided that they are added in context and at the right balance. There’s no need to sacrifice the quality of your content to include more keywords, as keyword stuffing can lead to the opposite of the result you want. Internal linking is one of the few methods we can use to tell Google (and visitors) that a particular page of content is important. So how should you go about linking internally to other pages of your website?2 Many marketers will have seen a technical SEO checklist in their time. Any time a site migration is approaching or a technical audit is scheduled, a checklist tends to appear. Contextual link building -- links that are surrounded by text in the body of content -- have a higher SEO value than links that appear in the footer or sidebar.

Duplicate content causes problems

Even just a few changes will have a significant impact on your website’s ranking. Don’t forget – it will still take time to see your hard work come to fruition! Don’t let ego fuel your obsession with keyword rankings. And remember that your personal search experience is not necessarily what your prospective customers see. Troubleshooting technical errors and ensuring that your
website is always accessible is one of the biggest hurdles to
manage when thinking about good SEO practices over time. Would you rather read 5 articles about one subject, or one or two well thought articles with significant amounts of data or thought process to back them up? Google knows that if a page takes too long to load, visitors are
likely to click away or go back. Now, Google tends to place
other factors above site speed, but while it’s not the number
one factor, if your site loads slowly it’s definitely something
you will want to address.

Add Modifiers to Title

To ensure consistently high quality, business owners and digital marketers need to adopt a long-term content strategy that boosts a website’s search engine ranking and keeps it there. Good content plays a crucial role here. You may not be familiar with Schema mark-up, however it’s increasingly important and can do wonders for certain site’s visibility. The key is to consistently deliver value so that people come to your site for answers. And this is also ironically what will get other good sites to link to your site. This is the perfect example of ‘emergent SEO’. If you don’t know where to submit a guest blog post or what forums would be good to participate on, research where your competitors are going to get links and follow suit. Getting high-quality links from outside websites is key — especially if you can find a way to get .edu links. Google sees inbound links coming from websites ending in .edu as especially trustworthy.

Duplicate content will cannibalize your site

There’s a danger that duplicate content will cannibalize the keywords you want to target in search. Duplicate content can be a problem on your own site, but also with any guest posts that you submit to other websites for backlinks. The ability to measure the success of your SEO efforts is crucial. Tracking and managing your website’s data can be done through Google Analytics and Google Search Console. Longer content tends to rank significantly higher on Google’s first page. Make sure all of your articles have 1000+ words of useful content. Longer content helps you rank better for your target keyword and brings in more long tail traffic. Websites with fresh content added on a regular basis are given more authority, and rank higher in the search results. Fresh content tells Google you are maintaining your website.

The main aim of your content

We all know that when it comes to link building, we aim for the authority links in the first place. But they’re also the hardest to land. Just by increasing your search ranking and where your website places on Google doesn’t mean you’re going to get all of a sudden get that flood of traffic that you want. Paid links are like paying someone to be your wingman to impress a girl
rather than having a genuine friend by your side who can vouch for how
great you really are! Building links is certainly an essential SEO practice, but Google is still dealing with the manipulation of SERPs via economically minded marketers. However, your link building strategy needs to encompass relevancy.

Build a unique set of citations

HTTPS secures the connection to the website you are visiting. I’m sure you have seen this in action; look at the address bar in the browser and find the lock icon on the left-hand side. Is the lock closed? Then the connection is secure. Write proper page titles. Not overly optimized titles targeting a gazillion keywords. No. Proper, one sentence titles that contain your brand name and your focus keyword. The average top-ten ranking is two or more years old and the average age for the pages in the number one position is roughly three years old. Analysing a competitor’s recurring backlinks will quickly give you a feel for their regular content promotion strategy, and an invaluable insight into their ‘inner circle’ of sharers/linkers.

Look for Broken Link Opportunities

Search drives the web -- roughly two-thirds of website visitors originate from organic search. On the web, sole traders can in theory compete with the corporate big boys, so being able to be found – and found easily – among those searches is essential for any firm A marketer who dives deep on this topic can find dozens of opportunities to enhance their listing and earn more traffic. Because these days, it’s not enough to rank. According to SEO Consultant, Gaz Hall: "While your content marketing should be crafted carefully to meet SEO requirements, such as by including keywords, the success and popularity of your actual content will be the real force behind the rise of your web page in the search rankings. "

Chew on that one for a while

Spend some time to get to know the people who consistently share your content. Pull together a list of contacts
with more than a thousand followers and a history of engagement in your content. Knowing your social media influencers will help you expand your reach online and ultimately increase the rate at which your content gets found online. Longer sentences are hard to follow onscreen. When possible, break longer sentences into multiple shorter sentences. SEO is technical, complicated, time-consuming and potentially dangerous. To ensure that your website or web pages are discovered by users conducting searches in Google, you must implement the right tactics that appeal to the needs of users and search engines alike.

Find, target and shoot for the top

With responsive design, the only thing that changes across devices is the styling (which is controlled by CSS). This configuration makes it easier for Google to crawl your pages and retrieve your content. To quote Google, “This improvement in crawling efficiency can indirectly help Google index more of the site’s contents and keep it appropriately fresh. The sites that Google will rank highest for a particular search term are the ones that appear the most relevant and that have the best content and best design. At the same time though, they will also be the ones that have the most trust. This means that Google considers them an authoritative resource and expects the information on their site to be accurate and well-written. The main text content on the page must be unique to avoid Google’s page quality algorithms. Use the rel=nofollow tag in the links to websites that you do not trust, you think maybe using spamming techniques or you do not want to help in the search engines.

Find, target and shoot

To achieve long-term SEO results, you must have a strong web foundation built on targeting terms related to your business, industry, and offerings. If you don’t target and rank for the right terms, your audience won’t be able to find you. So one of the most important SEO tactics is keyword research. Make it easier for search engines to index your website. Test the results of changes, and keep changes tracked in an Excel spreadsheet, or whatever you're comfortable with. SEO offers incredible opportunity and access (it's an inherently free marketing channel) to inbound traffic, but it can be hard to know where to start and what advice to follow.

Think of ways to stand out from the crowd

Many marketers are so focused on building out site hierarchy, wireframing and design of the site that they lose site of content development. SEO is a huge part of content development, but when content becomes an afterthought during web redesign, and the focus is on getting the new site live ASAP, often times marketers will put the content together without deliberate thought to keyword inclusion and smart SEO content strategies. Search engines aren't good at completing online forms (such as a login), and thus any content contained behind them may remain hidden. If you’re struggling to rank #1 for your brand name among other websites with a similar or the same name, a rebrand to a more unique name or URL might give you a better chance of getting to the top. From its earliest days, Google's core search algorithm offered the most relevant and most organic search results quickly and accurately on a simple site with an iconic logo that has now become synonymous with the search giant's business. Searching amidst the world's vast data, Google cleverly cataloged and categorized pages using its PageRank formula, which assessed the quantity and power of links to any given webpage.

“Monetisation first” approach

Search Console shows your average position for each of the keywords you rank for and how many impressions and clicks this brings you. In order to rank highly in SERPs, the search engines must see your website’s content as being trustworthy. On-page SEO is the practice of optimizing individual web pages in order to rank higher and earn more relevant traffic in search engines. On-page refers to both the content and HTML source code of a page that can be optimized, as opposed to off-page SEO which refers to links and other external signals. Gaz Hall, an SEO Expert from the UK, said: "Google is pushing towards more and more personalized search results, so in order for you to perform well, you’ll have to ensure that you provide a better user experience that keeps people on your site."

You must have a strong web foundation

Most SEO consultants have said goodbye to spammy, shady optimization techniques because Google actively penalized you for it since 2011. SEO today is increasingly driven by natural language search, that is, people doing searches that are more like normal questions than two or three keywords. Relevance is the key issue when choosing the right
keywords. Keep in mind that the more specific and niche
the keywords, the better. Basically a search engine searches the web using automated programs called web crawlers. The crawlers follow links from page to page, they then send a copy of each page back to the search engine, which then builds an index of the words on each page.
